Travel Q&A: Family Vacation Ideas

Question: My husband and I are looking to take a vacation with our four year old over spring break. We're focused on the East Coast, but want to avoid the chaos of Disneyworld. Any "outside of the box" suggestions for favorite spots?

Answer: Two ideas on the luxury tip include historic resorts like The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia. Not only do these hotels offer plenty of activities like indoor and outdoor pools, board game rooms, carriage rides, hikes, world class spas, spring waters, golf, tennis, among many others, but they also have an edge on other large resorts due to their rich history. The Greenbrier hosts a Cold War era bunker which would be used to house key government officials in a nuclear event and The Homestead has existed as a hotel in various forms since the 18th century, on land originally commissioned by George Washington. We have visited both and are fans for family travel - they will please both children and adults!
