About two years ago, I purchased a Cuisinart juicer and discovered a whole new world. There are plenty of days my kids (and admittedly I) don't get our daily allowance of fruits and vegetables, but juicing has been an easy and fun way to get around that issue. My kids fight over who pushes the buttons, who gets to shove the next item into the machine and who gets to pour. All I care about is that they're getting their vitamins.
Recently, we stepped into a juice bar and although we've been doing this at home for a while, I found the bar and the number of choices to be a bit overwhelming. I remembered having interviewed Amanda Dumas, co owner of Liquid Juice Bar on Melrose about a year earlier and decided to get in touch to see if she'd be willing to make me a juicing cheat sheet. I recalled that like me, she had developed a love of juicing at home but went the extra mile (more like ten) to do an incredible amount of research and eventually, along with her husband and her mother in law, open her own place.
Well, not only did Amanda agree to spell things out for me, she revealed that she's a new mom so she knows first hand what we moms need... MORE energy // LESS sniffles!
Below are her suggestions to help us to know exactly what to ask for at Liquid Juice Bar or at least get familiarized with the the types of ingredients we should be ingesting so we get exactly what we want from our juice.
